In Abidjan, Action contre la Faim also supports the PROSSAN 2 program, which aims to strengthen health services and practices among women, men and adolescents in Abidjan’s precarious neighborhoods, in collaboration with the NGO Mission des jeunes pour l’Education, la Santé, la Solidarité et l’Inclusion (MESSI).

In the north of the country, Action contre la Faim is continuing its intervention in Côte d’Ivoire through the ACT Femmes project funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), which aims to empower women and adolescent girls in the Tchologo region, with particular emphasis on their health and rights. This project is implemented with two national partners, the Association des Femmes Juristes de Côte d’Ivoire (AFJCI) and the Amazoons du Web. The Confluences 2 program, co-funded by Agence Française de Développement (AFD), is also continuing and aims to contribute to the nutritional security of vulnerable populations through an integrated nutrition-health approach, by developing preventive actions and proposing appropriate public policies. The Comité Interministériel d’Aide Alimentaire (CIAA) has also renewed its support for Action contre la Faim in 2023 for a program of nutritional assistance and nutrition-sensitive social actions for vulnerable populations in the Tchologo region, in partnership with the World Food Program.

At the same time, the M3EAU project, co-financed by AFD FISONG funds and the Loire-Bretagne Water Agency, aims to improve the governance and transparent management of drinking water in the Haut Bandama, Tchologo region. In 2023, UNICEF supported a program to support community nutrition activities and the elimination of open defecation through the implementation of the Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) approach in the sub-prefectures of Kombolokoura and Dassoungboho in the Korhogo department, Tchologo region.

In 2022/23, northern Côte d’Ivoir saw the arrival of tens of thousands of refugees from Burkina Faso, an area already vulnerable to food insecurity and water stress. Action contre la Faim therefore launched an emergency operation to meet the pressing needs of vulnerable communities. In the Bounkani region, Action contre la Faim is providing food and non-food assistance to communities in cross-border areas of the Bounkani region affected by the security crisis in Burkina Faso, thanks to funding from the European Commission (DG ECHO). Finally, the YERETALI cross-border program (Burkina Faso/Côte d’Ivoire), financed by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), bridging the gap between emergency and development (Nexus), supports community recovery and resilience to climate-related shocks and population movements, in collaboration with the Réseau Billital Maroobé (RBM) and its partners.
