Our humanitarian association is looking for volunteers!
WHY VOLUNTEER WITH OUR NGO?
Action contre la Faim is an international NGO that fights against all the causes and consequences of hunger in the world. There are many reasons for this: conflicts, epidemics, poverty, the climate crisis, gender inequalities and lack of access to drinking water mean that even today, 733 million people suffer from hunger¹. Women and children are the most vulnerable to malnutrition.
Our association has been working in nearly 56 countries around the world for over 40 years, and in France too since 2019, to combat this scourge. In countries in conflict, close to the most remote populations, we support a total of nearly 21 million people every year, thanks to our various programs and the expertise we have developed.
You have the power to take action here, everywhere in France, to make an impact there, in the countries where we work. By fighting hunger around the world, you are also fighting the climate crisis, protecting the environment, combating inequality, defending women’s rights, fighting conflicts, promoting peace, access to water, education and health care, everywhere in the world.
Volunteering is not salaried work. If you’d like to join our salaried teams, click here.
How can I become a volunteer in our association? How can I become a volunteer?
France is the world’s leading country in terms of volunteering: nearly 19 million French people are volunteers in France, 11 million of whom work for associations².
Our volunteers play an active role in the organization and development of our major annual events, such as the Challenge contre la Faim and the Course contre la Faim. Depending on the delegation, they can also organize sporting events such as Color Runs, hikes and mountain bike races, as well as conferences, photographic exhibitions, ‘Marche contre la Faim’ solidarity basketball matches and yoga or Zumba activities.
Our volunteers also organize cultural events, from dance and theater shows to concerts. They also conduct surveys among the beneficiaries of our partner associations in Ile-de-France and Marseille. There’s no age limit for becoming a volunteer for our humanitarian NGO. Whether you’re a student, young professional, retired or elderly, we have a mission for you!
What kind of volunteer work can I do? Where can I volunteer?
Get involved with our association in any way you can. Over the long term, a few hours a week, or on a more occasional basis at our events, headquarters or activities in France.
BECOME A VOLUNTEER AT OUR ASSOCIATION’S HEAD OFFICE
If you’d like to put one of your skills to good use, or simply give some of your time, you might be interested in volunteering with our salaried teams at head office in Paris. Whether it’s a short or long volunteer assignment with our technical and/or support teams, you’ll discover the inner workings of an NGO and be welcomed into friendly, motivated teams! Assignments are generally carried out during working hours from Monday to Friday, although some can be carried out by tele-volunteering. See the advertisements at the bottom of the page.
ALL OVER FRANCE IN OUR DEPARTMENTAL DELEGATIONS
Volunteer delegations exist in 32 départements. The departmental delegations are made up of a volunteer delegate who leads a team of around ten volunteers, depending on the department.
The main missions of the delegations are to provide financial support for our association’s missions in the field through fund-raising projects (sporting, educational and/or cultural events, corporate partnerships, etc.), to raise awareness among all local publics and to carry out advocacy actions.
You can get involved with our volunteer delegations on a one-off basis, over the long term, because you want to put your skills to good use and/or develop new ones (project management, events management, entertainment, communications, corporate partnerships, etc.), because you have an appetite for themes related to hunger (agroecology, climate, sanitation, nutrition, etc.) or simply to enjoy being part of a dynamic, committed team!

Volunteering in the field with Mission France in Paris, Montreuil and Marseille
In France, many people in situations of exclusion and poverty still find their basic needs unmet. In 2022, more than 8 million people in France were affected by food insecurity, and 16% of French people said they didn’t eat enough³. There are indeed many barriers to access to basic services, such as lack of information, absence of a fixed address to locate a service, language barrier etc.
Since 2019, our association has decided to put its expertise to work for the benefit of the poorest in France, and more specifically in Ile-de-France (departments 75 and 93) and in the city of Marseille. Action contre la Faim supports a wide range of actors to ensure better access to food and, more generally, to the rights of the poorest people. This support is provided in particular through our field surveys, in which our volunteer teams listen to what the people concerned have to say and better understand their needs and expectations, after which we work with the players to adapt their aid.
If you’d like to take part in our actions in the field, Mission France volunteers conduct surveys among people receiving food aid, among others. They are also called upon to provide them with information to guide them in their search for housing assistance, administrative files, etc. Trained and supported by our salaried teams, you can take part in this experience with peace of mind!
If you are interested in this mission, please complete the form at the bottom of the page (by selecting Mission France) to obtain more information and get involved in our projects.
What are the advantages of volunteering?
Action contre la Faim is an NGO made up of experts in 12 fields. To combat and fight against hunger, we work in 7 areas of expertise to provide an integrated response to the causes and consequences of hunger. Your commitment and mobilization, whatever they may be, will contribute, in one way or another, to supporting our interventions through all forms of commitment: Volunteering, Civic Service and Membership!
We are committed to providing you with a deeper understanding of our businesses and programs, and to giving you the tools you need to successfully carry out your mission. You’ll be able to develop your skills and bring them back to us: we’re also growing thanks to the commitment of all the people who make up our association!
How else can we help? How can you join our association?
Become a member!
In addition to volunteering, you can become a member of our association by becoming a member.
Being a member means taking part in the Annual General Meeting to discuss the challenges of hunger, evaluate the success of our activities and decide tomorrow’s strategic orientations. It also means electing the Board of Directors, talking about Action contre la Faim’s actions around you, and getting involved in our awareness-raising events.
As a member, you are the voice of the association in your region, in your town, in your professional environment, in your family or friends. You are the guarantors of our action. You become a player in the fight against hunger worldwide.
Civic service !
Civic Service is a voluntary commitment to serve the general interest. It is open to all young people between the ages of 16 and 25, regardless of their qualifications, and up to the age of 30 for young people with disabilities. It’s the meeting of a project of collective interest and a personal project of voluntary commitment.
If you become a civic service volunteer with our association, you’ll be involved in a wide range of missions, enabling you to develop professional skills such as creativity, event organization and communication.
