Conference 2023
PREVENTION, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF UNDERNUTRITION
IMPACT OF CLIMATE CRISES, SOCIETAL AND POLITICAL CHANGES, AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC INEQUALITIES ON NUTRITIONAL SECURITY
The fifth edition of the R4NUT conference took place at the Chateau de Nanterre on 6 and 7 November 2023.
As in previous years, the conference provided a unique opportunity to highlight the latest results from humanitarian research projects into the Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment of undernutrition. This year 2023, in view of the current global situation, the conference also focused on the impact of climate crises, societal and political changes, and socio-economic inequalities on nutritional security.
Over the two days of the conference, around 240 people from all over the world came together (150 in person and 90 online) – researchers, academics, universities, humanitarian and development actors, donors, members of government – with a strong representation from southern countries. It should also be noted that a third strategic advocacy day followed the R4NUT conference: the Civil Society for Nutrition Day (#CS4NUT). This day was a good first step in preparing for the International Nutrition Summit Nutrition for Growth (N4G), which will take place in 2024/2025 in Paris. It was an opportunity to work together with civil society to draw up a joint declaration to ensure that the N4G summit is equal to the immense challenge of eradicating hunger in the world and achieving the SDGs. The Declaration was presented to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was also present on 8 November 2023.
