In response to the profound changes experienced by NGOs in recent months, Action contre la Faim is launching the third edition of its Grant for a New Humanitarian Perspective—a renewed and reimagined version of the initiative.
This year, the selected project will receive a €5,000 grant to support work that addresses a humanitarian theme aligned with Action contre la Faim’s areas of intervention, in a country where the organisation is active.
The humanitarian landscape is evolving. The significant disruptions that NGOs have recently faced led us to redesign the format of this grant. Continuing this initiative was essential for Action contre la Faim—not only to spotlight the work of applicants, but above all to increase the visibility of the people we work with and for, and the realities they face wherever we intervene.
By promoting new ways of seeing—ways that move beyond conventional representations, towards fairer, more inclusive, and more ethical approaches—this grant seeks to foster a more balanced exchange with the people portrayed.
This international call for projects is free and open to all photographers, video artists, and content creators (including illustrators, designers, animators, etc.). A single project—either individual or collective—will be awarded, based on its innovation in storytelling and production.
In September/October 2025, a multidisciplinary internal jury will meet to select the winning project. The work will be presented digitally—and possibly physically—from October 2026.

The winning project from the first edition used 360° video to give protagonists a direct voice in representing their reality and daily struggle with poverty and hunger.
Mentored by Cristina De Middel, President of Magnum Photos, the laureates presented Invisible Hunger at Cité Fertile in October 2024.
This immersive work, filmed in Montreuil and Marseille (France), blended animation and 360° camerawork to share Raheema and Omar’s lived experiences. Each protagonist filmed their own daily life using a 360° camera and, through the use of animation, invited viewers into their inner world—beyond what a camera alone can capture.
The exhibition featured a sensory scenography and virtual reality experience, allowing visitors to step into the protagonists’ perspectives.
The winning project of the second edition, currently in progress, is Un jour, tout ça finira (One Day, This Will All End) by Jean de Dieu Boukanga Yaladakpa—a Central African cultural journalist who has worked with the Music in Africa Foundation and Radio France Internationale (RFI).
This podcast series, produced in the Central African Republic, seeks to give a voice to those affected by war. The jury was particularly drawn to the use of audio, a medium with broad reach in Africa, where radio plays a key role in information sharing and public awareness—making the project widely accessible.
The work is being developed under the mentorship of Azu Nwagbogu, curator and founder/director of LagosPhoto Festival, an international photography festival held annually in Nigeria.
The project is scheduled to be released in October 2025.
