Employability
What is Action contre la faim’s Employability program?
Main goal of the ACF’s employability program is to prevent and address social exclusion, through offering employment and self-employment opportunities. This program approach is mainly addressed to youth, women, refugees, internal displaced persons, people with disabilities, marginalised and/or discriminated persons. It targets persons who have difficulties in integrating into the job market, and can have psychosocial and livelihood difficulties. In Iraq, where the program was first done, this approach was only aimed at urban and peri-urban areas and targeted IDPs, refugees and returnees of both KRI and Federal Iraq starting in 2017. ACF’s employability approach is made up of trainings, apprenticeship, job-placements and support to business start-up activities. The approach is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 8), ILO Recommendation 205 on employment and decent work for peace and resilience, ILO Recommendation 151 on migrant workers and ILO Recommendation 202 on social protection floors.
