Skills sponsorship
What is skills sponsorship?
Skills sponsorship means making company employees available during their working hours to benefit a project of general interest.
At Action contre la Faim, we’ve been welcoming employees on a skills sponsorship basis for over 10 years, and every year we carry out numerous projects thanks to their support. Some projects require specific technical skills, but others are open to anyone, with no particular prerequisites.
Mobilisations can be one-offs, lasting from a few hours to a few days, but we regularly have needs for long-term mobilisations, lasting from a few weeks to several months.
The right match between the time on offer and the needs of those involved is the key to the success of these mobilisations. They can generate a great deal of enthusiasm among company employees, who feel useful, and can become accelerators of commitment.
Combining expertise and experience for Action contre la Faim projects
Your company, whatever its sector of activity, can involve its employees in skills sponsorship alongside Action contre la Faim. In addition to certain needs focused on specific skills, we also regularly have needs in support functions common to all companies.
These collaborations and synergies make all the difference and add real value to the association.
For example, our partner Davidson Consulting helped us to create our WE ACT digital platform for mobilising employees in the event of an emergency. It’s a long-term project, and the support we received at every stage of the project was extremely beneficial to the development of this platform.
Wavestone provided us with its expertise in cybersecurity, helping us to optimise cybersecurity crisis management. This skills sponsorship support is extremely useful for our in-house teams.
Raising awareness among young people
Every year, as part of the Race against Hunger project, Action contre la Faim invites pupils from primary to secondary school to get involved in a practical solidarity action. The “CCF” is a race in May, but above all it involves activities in each school between February and April. More than 250,000 pupils were reached in 2024.
Every year, a large number of company employees run these awareness-raising sessions as part of their skills sponsorship, after receiving training and dedicated teaching tools. They pass on the keys to understanding hunger in the world, while at the same time introducing people to a particular country and culture. This operation is open to all companies, with a minimum mobilisation requirement of 1.5 days per employee.
Some examples of assignments
Helping a graphic designer to format tools, data analyst on a specific project, running an awareness-raising session in a school, translation, cybersecurity audit, helping to organise the Challenge contre la Faim event…
How can I set up a skills sponsorship programme with Action contre la Faim?
We publish our requirements on a number of dedicated platforms that enable company employees to apply directly. They are put in touch with a referent in the partnerships department and with the project manager so that the operational and administrative aspects of the assignment can be clearly defined beforehand (in particular by drawing up a skills sponsorship agreement).
The skills sponsorship scheme entitles the company to a tax deduction of around 60% of the employee’s salary, prorated over the duration of the assignment, up to a limit of 0.5% of the company’s turnover excluding tax.
You can also contact us directly. Together we will discuss how to set up a joint scheme to provide the best possible support for the association’s projects through the skills of your employees.
