Alliance Urgences
A collective of 6 NGOs decide to join forces to provide rapid, effective support in emergency situations. Together, Action contre la Faim, Care France, Handicap International, Médecins du Monde, Plan International and Solidarité International form Alliance Urgences.
The aim is to create a surge of national solidarity around a well-defined humanitarian emergency. This collective has taken shape following the success of similar organizations that were set up several years ago in a dozen countries, such as Consortium 12-12 in Belgium, Giro 555 in the Netherlands and Action Deutschland Hift in Germany.
“In the event of a crisis, it is important for French humanitarian associations to stand together in the field, to speak with one voice (…) Together, the message becomes stronger”, agree the 6 member organizations of this alliance.
Alliance Urgences
Together, they launched a collective appeal for donations to respond to international humanitarian emergencies. This way, the 6 NGOs can intervene rapidly in many countries, and the present experts respond to essential needs in emergency situations.
How is a collection organized ?
To respond effectively to humanitarian emergencies, we have set up a four-stage intervention policy.
- We identify humanitarian issues on which we can provide effective humanitarian aid. A decision to launch a fundraising campaign is taken by the members of the Alliance Urgences Board of Directors.
- We create a unique donation channel for this cause, and set up a communication campaign to raise awareness and denounce the emergency.
- Once the funds have been collected, we distribute them to our NGO partners in the field. The distribution of funds is calculated every year according to the emergency and is totally transparent for the donor.
- We inform donors of the use made of their donation and publish an activity report at the end of each fundraising campaign.

Where do your donations go ?
Your donations are divided among the 6 NGOs in a transparent way, to finance the current emergency.
The collective’s structure has been streamlined to allow as much money as possible to be channeled into the field. In 2023, 96% of raised funds were allocated to member NGOs.
Alliance Urgences is organized around 3 key principles:
- Raised funds must be allocated solely to the humanitarian emergency in question (and not to any other program of the member organization).
- Each organization sets itself the target of using 100% of the funds raised within 3 years.
- A maximum of 10% of the received funds may be allocated to the organization’s administrative expenses.
A donation to Alliance Urgences thus contributes to financing various emergency programs run by Alliance Urgences members: nutrition, health, shelter, water, protection of vulnerable populations and education.
How are donations divided between NGOs?
The funds collected by Alliance Urgences are divided between member NGOs according to a distribution key calculated annually. During each fundraising campaign, the NGOs report regularly on the actions carried out in the field, to ensure compliance with the rules set out in the program and to communicate transparently on the use made of the funds collected.

Action contre la Faim (28.3%), Care (7.1%), Handicap International (23.7%), Médecins du monde (31%), Plan International (7%), Solidarités International (2.9%).
