Choosing to leave a legacy to Action contre la Faim means making a commitment alongside us to create a fairer world by alleviating the suffering of the vulnerable populations we support. Because such a gesture reflects the immense trust you place in us, we do everything we can to honour the legacy entrusted to us.
There are several ways in which you can maintain your generosity and extend your commitment to us:
- A bequest is a way of passing on all or part of your estate, excluding the portion reserved for your direct heirs.
- Life insurance is a savings contract with several advantages: the sums invested remain available to you, the tax framework is advantageous, particularly after 8 years, and there are no inheritance taxes payable by you or our association.
- A donation is a simple, quick and effective way of putting your values of generosity and mutual aid into practice, by immediately transferring part of your assets to our association, or the use, usufruct or bare ownership of a property. This type of donation is more formal than a manual gift, and must be declared to the prefecture of the département where the association has its head office, together with the notarial deed.

The importance of donations for humanitarian associations
Some organizations receive grants from the government or local authorities, but these official funds are rarely enough to cover all their needs. They must rely on donations from individuals, businesses, and communities to help build a better world while maintaining their independence ! Donations allow them to save more lives, have a greater impact, and ensure greater freedom of action.
It’s thanks to you that we can pursuit our mission ! In 2023, donations and the humanitarian commitment of volunteers enabled Action contre la Faim to help 21 million people around the world.
Why and how to donate to Charity ?
3 good reasons to donate to a charity
Not everyone has the same motivations for making a donation to a charity, and that’s perfectly natural, because there are so many ! Here are a few that might resonate with you:
- The first and most common motivation for donating to a charity is, of course, philanthropy – the desire to support a cause that matters to you. If you want to help fight world hunger because you believe that, in today’s world, famine should no longer exist, you can make a humanitarian donation to Action contre la Faim.
- Another reason donors choose to give to a charity is the opportunity to benefit from a personal income tax reduction (if you live in France). To qualify, however, you must donate to an organization that meets the specific requirements set by the tax authorities and report it on your tax return.
- Giving is contagious : by donating to a charity and sharing your action with those around you, you encourage others to do the same. Even if your donation is modest, the ripple effect can lead to many more contributions.
Which association to choose to make a donation to ?
Whether you want to make a financial donation or a donation in kind to a charity, a sports association, a cultural association or a donation to an association that helps people in difficulty, the question that often arises is : “how do you choose an association to make a donation to ?”
Here our advice : choose a nonprofit organization governed by the French “1901 Law” when making your donation. These are organizations that have been officially registered with the local authorities and are authorized to receive financial donations, in accordance with Article 6 of the Law of July 1, 1901.
These associations must also have their accounts certified by an auditor above a certain donation amount, and make public the amount of their annual resources – as we do at Action contre la Faim)
How to check if an organization is registered with the Prefecture ? If you have any doubts, you can simply inquire with the “greffe des associations” (the official registry for associations), which deals with all administrative matters relating to associations. There is one in each prefecture, so you will need to contact the registry in the department where the head office of the association you wish to support is located.
If you prefer not to go to the registry, you can also apply online via the Journal Officiel website.

Action contre la Faim has been a “Don en Confiance” association since 1989. “Don en Confiance” is a certification and control body for associations and foundations that appeal to the generosity of the public.
Don en Confiance associations must comply with the provisions of the Code of ethics, a set of guidelines that every association must respect.
The Don en Confiance certification is renewed every 3 years on the basis of an independent auditor’s report examined by the accreditation committee. Our donors are important to us, which is why we need to reassure them about how their donations are used. Rest assured, we guarantee that our actions will be as effective as possible thanks to your donations.
You can be sure of making a donation on a 100% secure site, thanks to the secure management of your bank details ! We are particularly committed to respecting the privacy of our donors.
When you make a donation on our online form, you can be sure that you are doing on a site with secure platforms and PCI-DSS-certified third parties. These are global security standards designed to reduce online fraud.
If you are liable for income tax, every donation you make to our association entitles you to tax relief! You benefit from a tax reduction equal to 75% of the amount of the donation, up to a maximum of 1000€ ! If your donations exceed 1000€, the tax reduction rises to 66% of the amount of the donation, up to a limit of 20% of taxable income.
To qualify, you must declare your donations to the tax authorities when you file your tax return.
Note that if they exceed the 20% limit of taxable income, the excess can be carried forward to the next 5 years and entitles you to the tax reduction under the same conditions! Feel free to consult this article on tax reduction, we explain all your rights !
We have thought of giving you access to a personal donor space ! You will then be able to manage your personal information, update your contact details, view your donation history and download your tax receipts, change your communication preferences, and access our quarterly magazine “Action” all in one place ! Great, isn’t it?
Action contre la Faim automatically sends you a tax receipt after your one-time online donation, upon receipt of your donation. If you choose to make regular donations by direct debit, you will receive your tax receipt once a year before your tax declaration. You can view your donation history and download your tax receipt from your online donor space at any time.
Our teams raise awareness among people they meet on the street, in shopping centers, and at their homes about the causes and consequences of hunger. They enable those who wish to support us to become regular donors through a monthly direct debit. Action contre la Faim guarantees the security of this fundraising method, which presents no risk of fraud. Our teams do not collect cash or checks.
Thanks to their work, these teams help collect funds that are absolutely necessary for the Association’s budget balance over several years and provide the resources we greatly need to carry out our activities to fight hunger worldwide. Beyond the essential funds they help us collect, these campaigns mainly aim to raise awareness among as many people as possible.
We are committed to keeping you informed of all our activities through an annual activity report that summarises our missions, objectives and actions over the past year. Financial transparency is important to us in order to reassure you and establish a relationship of trust!
There is no special time to be generous. You can express your generosity throughout the year ; however, some of our donors prefer the end of the year, and more particularly the Christmas period, to make their donations. The end of the year is a time of great solidarity and kindness, when we turn more towards the most vulnerable. It’s also the last time to take advantage of the tax benefits of your donations !
