THE LATEST RESULTS OF HUMANITARIAN RESEARCH PROJECTS ON PREVENTION, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF UNDERNUTRITION HIGHLIGHTED.
In a context where the trend of world hunger continues to increase and where the need to generate scientific evidence to identify the most effective interventions to address undernutrition is increasingly raised by many decision makers in humanitarian settings, Action contre la Faim, and more specifically the Research & Analysis & Learning Unit, decides to launch in 2016 the International Scientific Conference Research for Nutrition, #R4NUT.
Hence, since 2016, the #R4NUT conference represents a major meeting place to bring to light the latest research findings and topics related to undernutrition. It brings together internationally renowned field experts and researchers for a two-day exchange of knowledge and critical perspectives on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of undernutrition. Based on field experiences, research projects, strategic guidelines or nutrition & health policies and programs, all the evidence generated is discussed during the conference. It contributes to strengthening the knowledge and capacity of professionals involved in the fight against undernutrition and to linking even more between research, the operationalisation of results in humanitarian programmes and advocacy. Action contre la Faim recognizes the importance of harnessing local solutions in the fight against nutritional insecurity. It encourages operational, participatory, accountable, innovative and transformative research as well.
In 2023, given the current world situation, the fifth edition of the conference also focused on the impact of climate crises, socio-economic inequalities and political changes on nutrition security.
