THAT IS 1 PERSON OUT OF 8 IN THE WORLD, AND 1 PERSON OUT OF 4 IN SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA. DURING THIS TIME, WORLD AGRICULTURE PRODUCED ENOUGH FOOD TO COVER THE CONSUMPTION NEEDS OF 12 BILLION PEOPLE.
Food security: a person having physical and financial access to quality food in sufficient quantity, respecting cultural preferences, throughout the year, in order to guarantee a healthy and active life.
The main objective of our Food Security and Livelihoods operational programmes are aimed at giving people access to sufficient food during and after crisis situations.
To this end, we are pursuing different objectives, depending on the situation:
Depending on the context, the operational programmes of Action Against Hunger saves lives in severe crisis situations and protects the livelihoods of the communities most at risk to disasters, reducing vulnerability factors and promoting economic and social development.
The search for long-term solutions in the fight against hunger and malnutrition is at the very heart of our operational programmes in the field. To improve efficiency, we perform contextual comprehensive analysis and assess our projects so that we can provide the best possible training to our staff and, in turn, provide the best possible response to the communities.
