Event
On the sidelines of the United Nations’ High Level Political Forum, Action Against Hunger will take part in the event “Driving gains in health, nutrition through Water, Sanitation and Hygiene”.
Each year the HLPF monitors the progress of the Sustainable Development Goals on an annual basis with a focus on a few objectives. This year’s edition will bring together ministers from around the world to discuss the current status of the SDGs. This year a focus on the SDG related to water and sanitation will be carried out.
Achieving the transformation set out by the SDGs requires fundamental changes in how different sectors coordinate, align and harmonize efforts. SDG 6 on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for all underpins progress towards SDG2 on ending malnutrition and SDG3 on health for all.
This event will bring together senior representatives from the governments of Madagascar, Mali, Zambia, France and partners (Action contre la Faim, French Water Partnership, World Bank, Global Taskforce on Cholera Control, Save the Children, Sanitation and Water for All (SWA), Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN), UNICEF, WaterAid, World Health Organization) working across WASH, Health and Nutrition to share lessons and discuss challenges, creating a peer-learning experience and fostering greater multi-sectoral coordination and collaboration.
