Humanitarian context

After 14 years of conflict, the situation in Liberia has stabilized with the signature of the Accra Peace Agreements in 2003. Nevertheless, the country is still in a period of fragile transition. Significant efforts are still necessary to meet essential needs of the population, such as the access to health. In particular, the sanitary conditions remain precarious for a large part of the population.
International support is still necessary and a premature disengagement of development organizations could compromise the stability of the country and the region.

Action Against Hunger in Liberia

ACF France has been implementing programmes in Liberia since 1991.
Nowadays the ACF team works in collaboration with Government bodies and local entities to increase the coverage of water, sanitation, hygiene, nutrition, food security services. Specific focus is paid to long term, sustainable assistance to underprivileged people in both remote rural areas and impoverished urban areas.
In addition the above, the organization maintains a significant capacity to react in emergency situations, such as the influx of Ivorian refugees in early 2011
