Overall objective of the position and responsibilities: To support ACF Food Security and Livelihoods sector in delivering high quality work in Sustainable Agriculture in the frame of DRM, CCA and Nutrition Security.
1. Develop and provide technical support to the food security and livelihoods sector in sustainable agriculture (agro ecology, conservation farming, irrigation, post-harvest losses,…)
- Analyse the current situation in terms of sustainable agriculture issues and what is at stake for the humanitarian sector and ACF in the fight against hunger and under nutrition.
- Provide in-depth analysis of agricultural system transformation at local, national or international level by identifying obstacles or difficulties for its development.
- Propose innovations for ACF and anticipate needs and advances in the field of sustainable agriculture and promote linkages with the DRM/CCA approaches.
- Propose relevant projects and topics for applied research, and pilot research where appropriate,…
2. Ensure the production of coherent ACF policies, strategies and positioning papers in the field of sustainable agriculture
- Support the production of sustainable agriculture strategies, policies and annual action plans
- Produce policies and position papers in sustainable agriculture, and ensure their dissemination and roll-out (agro ecology, women & agriculture, GMO…)
- Ensure the mainstreaming of sustainable agriculture into the strategies and policies of other sectors and/or departments, and their coherence
- Ensure follow up of positions, policies and strategies of external actors in sustainable agriculture
3. Ensure external representation, communication, advocacy and policy work in coordination with the Senior Food Security and Livelihoods and the Senior Food and Nutrition policy advisors
Qualification and previous experience:
Master’s degree or relevant combination of qualifications and experience in agricultural disciplines, 8 years minimum experience in a job related to sustainable agricultural development is required. Experience within a headquarters of an international organization and a field experience with a humanitarian NGO is expected. Strong analytical and synthesis skills. Ability to write policies and concepts. Organization and autonomy skills. Good communication skills and teamwork. Good representation. English and French. Regular trips abroad.
Status: Employee – Unfixed term contract (French law) – Full Time
Annual Salary : According to your experiences, 19 days of extra leaves (RTT)/ year, restaurant vouchers of 8 € (60% covered by ACF), complementary health insurance (covered 80% by ACF), refund of 50% of public transportation fees
